In Week 16 of the Munster Cricket Union season, Nenagh CC 1st XI claimed the Junior Cup title with an 84-run victory over Midleton CC 2nd XI at The Manor Fields, Adare.
First Innings: Nenagh CC 1st XI
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Nenagh CC 1st XI built a formidable total of 250/8 in their allotted 45 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sreehari Vinobaji led the top order with a fast-paced 61 off 47 balls (11 fours), sharing an 84-run opening partnership with skipper Vimal John Mathai (32). Middle-order contributions from Subin Sudarsanan (31), Roshan Patel (25), Deekshith Gaddam (21*), and Tony Kurian (20) kept the run rate steady throughout the innings.
Midleton CC 2nd XI‘s bowling attack was led by Faraz ur Rehman Sharif, who recorded figures of 3/38 in 9 overs. Christian Laubscher (2/35) and Naveen Kumar Siddotam (2/36) took two wickets apiece, while Fayyaz Khan (1/46) picked up one.
Second Innings: Midleton CC 2nd XI
In reply, Midleton CC 2nd XI were bowled out for 166 in 41.2 overs as Nenagh CC‘s bowlers exerted early control, reducing Midleton to 21/3 during the opening powerplay.
Lower-order batter Fayyaz Khan top-scored for Midleton with 39 off 52 balls (6 fours, 1 six), with additional contributions from Faraz ur Rehman Sharif (24), Danish Iqbal (17), and Jigar Vyas (13).
Jomy Joseph delivered the decisive spell for Nenagh CC, taking 4/34 in 9 overs to dismantle Midleton’s top and middle order. He received strong support across the attack:
