The South East Carnival 2K24 was an exceptional celebration of community spirit, sports, and the arts, and it was a remarkable showcase of what can be achieved in a short period. Held on 7th September 2024 at the Waterford Vikings Complex, the event was organized by the Waterford Vikings Sports and Arts Club.

The carnival was a day filled with excitement, featuring a tug-of-war tournament, engaging arts performances, and a variety of food stalls that delighted attendees. Among the highlights was the spotlight on the Waterford Vikings Cricket Club, an unaffiliated cricket club that has quickly demonstrated its impressive potential and ambition.

In a remarkably short time, the Waterford Vikings have shown what can be achieved when a dedicated team has a clear vision and innovative spark. Their ability to attract and engage with the community has been inspiring, with 2000 people turning out for the event, travelling from across Ireland. The club has flagged the potential of up to 200 members joining the multi-sport club which along with tug-of-war, will include Cricket, Football, and Badminton. With plans to join the Munster cricket scene as early as 2025, the Vikings are poised to make a significant impact on the regional cricket landscape

As we look back on the South East Carnival 2K24, it is clear that the Waterford Vikings are not just building a cricket club but also inspiring others with their rapid development and community-driven approach. Their success and ambitious plans for the future promise exciting advancements for both the club and the broader cricketing community in Munster.
