Clare CC secured a convincing victory by 38 runs against Limerick CC 3rd XI in their MCU T20 Cup group stage match played at Ballycasey Clare Oval on Sunday, May 12th.
Limerick CC elected to bat first, but their innings never quite got going. Wickets fell consistently throughout their innings, with only Mukundan (56) showing any real resistance. Jeevankrishna (12) and Azmat (34) chipped in with handy contributions, but Limerick were eventually bowled out for a meagre 125 runs in 19.7 overs. Dwarakanath (5/22) was the pick of the Clare bowlers, taking five wickets. Mehmood (2/21) and Khan (2/13) also chipped in with crucial wickets.
Clare CC’s chase was far more assured. Divyesh (28) and Mysore Prabhakar (18) provided a solid foundation at the top of the order. P Prajapati (7) and Jeevan Krishna (12) added useful runs in the middle order. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Clare CC were always in control of the chase and eventually reached their target in 18.1 overs. Gurpreet Singh (4/23) was the most successful bowler for Limerick, taking four wickets.
