Sunday 1st December- Mitchelstown, Cork – The Firgrove Hotel played host to a well-attended Cricket Ireland Strategic Plan Roadshow on Sunday, attracting key stakeholders and representatives from local clubs in Munster. The event aimed to engage the cricket community in Munster and gather valuable insights to shape the new strategic plan for the Munster Cricket Union (MCU).

The roadshow featured a panel from Cricket Ireland, including Board Chair Brian McNiece, Head of Facilities & Operations Richard Fahey, Director Growth & Strategy Elaine Nolan, and Media and Communications Manager Craig Easdown. Their presentations emphasised the importance of local engagement in the strategic planning process.

Representatives from several Munster clubs, including Clare, Cork County, Cork Harlequins, Lismore, Limerick, and Clonmel, made their voices heard during the event. The MCU was also well-represented, with CEO Joseph Moynihan, Cricket Ireland Board Member (Munster) Sukhi Byrne, Operations Manager Len Browne, School & Club Development Officer Hugh Harvey-Kelly and National Programme Co-Ordinator Glenn Brokenshire present to provide insights on local cricket needs and aspirations.

The roadshow showcased an impressive presentation, enriched by a high-quality graphics package that effectively communicated the goals and vision of the strategic plan. The interactive discussions that followed allowed attendees to contribute their thoughts and ideas, ensuring that the plan reflects the diverse perspectives of the Munster cricket community.

By working together and leveraging the support of Cricket Ireland, the MCU is committed to driving the growth of cricket in Munster. The Club Grant Scheme offers significant funding opportunities for clubs, enabling them to enhance their facilities and programmes. All clubs are encouraged to avail of the considerable funding available in order to help their clubs to grow.

The roadshow was a resounding success, fostering collaboration and inspiring optimism for the future of cricket in the region.
