Sunday 12th January

Nearly 50 youth players from across the MCU attended open net sessions at Douglas Community School on Sunday. The purpose of the sessions is to help identify players who have the potential to represent Munster at the Interprovincial level.

Two separate 2 hour sessions were held- one for Under 15s, and the second for Under 17 players. The coaching team put the boys through their paces in the three main disciplines of cricket- namely batting, bowling, and fielding. A second assessment day will be held this coming Sunday 19th January, and the MCU would encourage the boys who attended the first day to come along again so Pathway Manager Jeremy Bray can get another look at the players. In addition, any boys who missed the first day are encouraged to attend this weekend.

”It was great to see the amount of players turn up for both Under 15 and Under 17 open Munster Cricket Union sessions. Not only was there a very impressive level talent on show but the boys were also wonderful youngsters to work with. I’m really looking forward to next week where we have round 2 of the open sessions. ” – Jeremy Bray
