Following the re-scheduling of the Inter Pro fixtures yesterday, The Munster Cricket Union are delighted to announce Tyrone Kane as the Munster Reds Captain for the 2021 season!
Kane will be joined by fellow Irish international Gareth Delany as his vice-captain in what is going to be a very exciting year for the province.
On his appointment Tyrone Kane had the following to say:
“Firstly, it’s a huge honour to be named captain of the Munster Reds for 2021. I’m massively looking forward to leading the group and working alongside Ted Williamson again. With a squad packed full of talent as well as some international experience, I think it’s an exciting blend across the board.
With a slight revamp of the inter pros this year I think it’s a brilliant time to be involved with the Munster Reds. With more T20 fixtures and now the involvement in the 50 over competition, I believe this squad can put in some eye-catching performances. Both myself and Gareth Delany (Vice-Captain) are delighted to lead this Munster team going into the 2021 season.”
Reds Head Coach & Pathway Manager, Ted Williamson added:
‘To have someone of TK’s calibre leading the group is great for Munster. He’s a proven match-winner and has been used to a lot of success over the last 8 years in inter-pro cricket. To be leading a young dynamic group will be a new challenge for him but it’s one that I know he’s looking forward to and one he will be well equipped to deal with.
Gareth as VC will be in a position to offer great support in a number of different ways so they’ll complement each other well especially at critical moments during games which is when you see very good leaders come into their own.”
More details to follow in coming weeks about the Inter Pros and the new Emerging Inter Pros competitions that the Munster Reds and Munster Heat will be competing in.
