IRISH CRICKET LEGEND JEREMY BRAY INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME

BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND — Former Irish international star and current Munster Cricket Talent Pathway Manager, Jeremy Bray, has officially been inducted into the prestigious Cricket Writers’ of Ireland Hall of Fame.

The presentation, marking one of the highest individual honors in Irish cricket, took place recently during the Ireland vs New Zealand Test Match at Stormont. In a fitting tribute, the framed cap and commemorative photograph were presented to Bray by his former international teammate and current national selector, Andrew White.

Originally hailing from New South Wales, Australia—where he represented his home country at the Under-19 level—the elegant left-handed top-order batter transitioned to Irish cricket to become one of the most prolific and dominant run-scorers in both the domestic and international arenas.

Bray’s domestic career in Ireland was defined by astonishing consistency, yielding a remarkable 30 centuries in local club cricket. However, it was on the global stage that he secured his place in sporting folklore. At the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies, Bray struck a magnificent, unbeaten 115* against Zimbabwe. It was the first-ever World Cup century scored by an Irish cricketer, a historic knock that set the tone for Ireland’s legendary giant-killing tournament run.

Over an illustrious international career, Bray earned 83 caps for Ireland, amassing 2,812 runs at the top of the order. His clinical batting style anchored the national team during a pivotal era of growth, concluding his playing days with 12 half-centuries and 7 international hundreds.

Since retiring from playing, Bray has dedicated his deep tactical knowledge to nurturing the next generation of talent. His coaching journey has spanned multiple continents, including a tenure as the Head Coach of the Denmark national cricket team. Today, he remains a vital pillar of Irish cricket’s future infrastructure, serving concurrently as the Head Coach for the Munster Heat and the Provincial Talent Pathway Manager for Munster Cricket.

Reflecting on his induction, Jeremy Bray said:

“It was a real honour and a privilege to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. While there are many great memories, the biggest highlight was being involved with such a great group of players and a brilliant coach in Adi Birrell throughout most of my playing career for Ireland.”

The Cricket Writers’ of Ireland Hall of Fame serves to honor individuals who have made monumental contributions to the heritage, success, and legacy of the game in Ireland. Bray’s induction celebrates not only a legendary playing career but his enduring commitment to the sport’s grassroots and high-performance future.
