Recently, Coachford Community College hosted an engaging “Introduction to Cricket” session led by Munster Cricket Union’s School & Club Engagement Officer, Rory O’Reilly. This initiative was part of the school’s TY Active Schools programme, which aims to promote physical activity through innovative and less traditional sports.
Active School events focus on participation, inclusion, and FUN, ensuring that all students can experience the joy of being active. These initiatives are open to all schools and are organised during the school day, allowing both staff and students to benefit from the activities. The session not only helped students develop their cricketing skills but also encouraged them to explore new forms of exercise that are in the PE curriculum.
With a focus on inclusivity and enjoyment, the session was a great success, fostering a positive attitude towards cricket among the students. The Munster Cricket Union is proud to support such initiatives, helping to create a more active and engaged youth through the love of cricket.
