Date: 23 July 2026

Format: Men’s One Day Match (40 Overs)

Toss: Munster Youth Select XI (elected to bat)

Result: Leinster U17s won by 2 wickets

First Innings: Munster Youth Select XI 139 All Out

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Munster Youth Select XI struggled to establish momentum against a disciplined Leinster U17s bowling attack. Opening bowler A Adelkar made an immediate impact, removing top-order batters Kaustubh  Gude (8), Callum Stevenson (8), and Nathan Malik (11) to reduce Munster to 37/3 within the first 10 overs.

Middle-order contributions from Abubakar Aziz (18 off 21) and wicketkeeper Dineth Sumanasinghe (23 off 21) briefly stabilized the innings, adding 37 runs for the fourth wicket. However, double-wicket spells from R Nair (2/25) and S Pant (2/24) disrupted the middle order, taking Munster from 74/3 to 101/8. S Casey continued the pressure, picking up 2 for 23. Lower-order batter Seneth Sumasinghe remained resilient with an unbeaten 24 off 40 balls, helping the side reach 139 before D Cosgrave (1/23) claimed the final wicket in the 33rd over. A Adelkar finished as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 16 off 5 overs.

Second Innings: Leinster U17s 140/8

Chasing a target of 140, Leinster U17s built a solid foundation through opener A Mulajker (28 off 28) and J Russell (28 off 37), moving comfortably to 44/0. However, Munster Youth Select XI fought back using their spin and seam options to trigger a middle-order collapse.

Chinmay Shinde (2/26) broke the opening partnership, while Mark Donnelly (2/27) dismissed key batters S Rajesh (17) and Leinster captain O Molins (1). When Seneth Sumasinghe (1/28) and William Shields (1/33) claimed further wickets, Leinster found themselves at 117/7 following a run-out of J Delany (6) by C Ross.

A Mirza compiled a steady 11 off 22 balls before falling to Chinmay Shinde at 137/8, setting up a tense finish. Unbeaten lower-order resistance from A Adelkar (6*) and S Pant (0*) eventually secured the two-wicket victory for Leinster in the 35th over.
