MCU Division 2: Limerick Blasters CC 2nd XI vs. UCC CC 1st XI

Limerick Blasters CC 2nd XI (230/9) defeated UCC CC 1st XI (143 all out) by 87 runs.

Limerick Blasters CC 2nd XI secured a comprehensive 87-run victory over UCC CC 1st XI in their MCU Division 2 encounter at Croker’s Oval, Ballyneety. Despite losing the toss and being put in to bat, the Blasters set a competitive target of 230 that UCC failed to chase down within their allotted overs.

First Innings: Limerick Blasters CC 2nd XI

The Blasters’ innings began poorly, losing Ajay Abraham Rajan (0) and Feby K Keepanasseril Roby (5) early to leave the side at 10/2. However, a stabilizing 81-run partnership for the third wicket between Pavi Sankar and captain Paulson George (30) brought the innings back on track.

Pavi Sankar played a patient anchor role, scoring 57 off 89 balls. Following George’s dismissal, Thomas Raju accelerated the scoring, striking 60 off 61 deliveries, including seven boundaries. The innings was stabilized by A Joseph (25) and captain B Joseph (12), but the standout performance came from wicketkeeper Mathew Varughese. Batting in the middle order, Varughese top-scored with 44 runs off 60 balls, including three boundaries and three sixes.

The innings was led by a standout performance from R Khalily, who scored 80 runs off 92 balls, including nine boundaries and three sixes.
