The highly anticipated 2 day red ball competition got underway at Belmont yesterday under foreboding skies. Our young Munster Heat Squad were keen to showcase their talent against a strong Emerging Knights team that includes several established Northern Knights players- but the weather had other ideas.
The days’ play was significantly impacted by heavy rain, and only 10.1 overs were able to be bowled before the umpires called a halt to proceedings, with the Emerging Knights having been put into bat. The northern side were 48/0 at the closure.
Play on day 2 is due to resume at 9.45am, with 120 overs to be bowled.
