NEW APPOINTMENT TO THE MCU TEAM

The growth of the Munster Cricket Union team continues with the creation of a brand new appointment for the province- Programmes Co-ordinator.

Australian Glenn Brokenshire steps into the key role and is responsible for the promotion and rollout of Cricket Ireland children’s initiatives ‘Smash it’ and ‘It’s Wicket’ across Munster.  These flagship programmes deliver a fantastic cricketing experience to youngsters aged 5-13 in a safe and inclusive environment. By linking up with established clubs, as well as schools, community hubs and centres, the Programme Co-ordinator will help carry on the momentum gained over the last few years and bring the initiatives to new locations as well.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be involved in cricket in the country,” said Glenn. “In my 22 years living in Ireland, I’ve never seen such a level of passion and participation in the sport. Girls, boys, women, men, club, province and country- it’s brilliant, and it all starts with the kids getting involved with Smash It/It’s Wicket.”

The Munster Cricket Union General Manager Joseph Moynihan is delighted to see Glenn on board stating- “I’m delighted to have someone the calibre of Glenn as part of the Munster Cricket team going forward. His expertise and passion for the sport will help to cricket grow across the MCU “

The next couple of weeks are going to be massive for Munster with the recruitment of two new development officers. The future of Cricket is looking bright in Munster!

The Programme Co-ordinator role includes:

+ Building and maintaining relationships with local clubs and hubs.

+ Supporting new clubs and partners for future programme delivery.

+ Promoting the programmes in local primary schools and encouraging transition into local clubs.

+ Delivering school sessions, taster events and programme roadshows.

+ Supporting clubs to provide a safe and inclusive environment.
