Despite the best efforts of Storm Hannah, the 2019 Munster Cricket season really got up and running over the weekend with action in all four divisions.
Following on from the stormy Friday night weather, play was possible in two of the three scheduled Division 1 games on Saturday with the only victim being the fixture in Tralee between County Kerry 2 and Cork County 2.
In the other two fixtures, there were big wins for Cork Harlequins 2 at Farmers Cross & Midleton 1 at Adare in their respective contests.
Sunday saw the start of the Premier Division with defending champions Cork County making the long trip up to Lydican to take on Galway. The Leesiders recorded an impressive 7 wicket victory chasing the target of 113 set by The Tribesmen.
In the other fixture Cork Harlequins defeated Limerick by 123 runs at Farmers Cross. Despite a shaky start the home side finished their innings on 275-8 with Kieran O’Reilly top scoring with 99 not out which proved too much for the visitors.
Tralee once again feel victim to the conditions with the County Kerry v Limerick City fixture abandoned without any play.
In Division 2, there were home wins for both Midleton 2 and Limerick 3 while in Division 3 Waterford District 1 emerged victorious over Limerick 4.
