Munster Cricket is delighted to announce Rory O’Reilly as their new school & club engagement officer for the Cork, Waterford, and Kerry region.
Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Rory’s passion for cricket started from age 5 when he joined Belmont cricket club. At age 8 he moved to Cork and quickly joined Cork County cricket club where he was an underage player. Rory is also an accomplished rugby player, having represented Dolphin rugby club and Garryowen rugby at AIL senior level.
Rory moved to Limerick in 2019 to take up a degree in sports development and performance in TUS during which he was a student representative and won the limerick sports award for excellence in 2022. Rory’s held various coaching roles throughout his time in Limerick, including the TUS rugby men’s head coach, Shannon women’s senior & under 18s head coach, and forwards coach for Castletroy college senior cup rugby team.
Rory was an athletic development coach for Clare GAA for three years, working with both football and hurling underage squads, and their senior & minor football squads. He also held the position of Cul camp coordinator, collaborating with clubs across Clare County. As an accredited Strength & conditioning coach for the Australian Strength & Conditioning association, Rory as held roles with Thomond soccer academy in UL and worked as the lead athletic development coach for Castletroy college rugby, consulting with the school on their newly upgraded indoor training facilities.
Most recently, Rory has completed a MSc in Sports management from UCD, during which he worked with various professional sports organisations including Bohemian Football club, and Hockey Ireland on strategical & operational planning projects.
Rory is keen to bring his professional & leadership experience, as well as adept knowledge of high-performance to Munster Cricket. His primary focus is to work alongside affiliated & unaffiliated clubs in creating strong systems and structures to enhance their development and implement schools cricket programs to increase boys & girls participation and strengthen the passionate Munster cricket community.
