After a lengthy recruitment process, Ted Williamson was last week offered the role of Munster Head Coach and Pathway Manager. This role is key to the MCU for developing players in the Region.
The role will see him take overall responsibility for coaching and developing players/coaches in the Munster Reds/Munster Heat/Development and Youth squads. Ted will be based in Munster but travelling weekly to train with the Munster Reds team in Cricket Ireland’s High-performance centre and other venues throughout Leinster.
Also, he will be responsible for the planning and management of the regional development programme for the province’s talent pathway and representative teams. This will include summer training sessions for the Heat and a bespoke Winter program for all squads in the region.
“I’m absolutely delighted with being appointed to the new role which incorporates several areas across different environments.
It’s an exciting time and with the Reds now in the 50 over competition as well, it means that there are more opportunities for our guys to play in white-ball cricket.
The new Emerging competition is the perfect shop window for Munster players and we hope that sooner rather than later to grow the numbers of the local players in the Reds side. The Pathway Manager element of the role will allow us to organise the pathway to run more efficiently and put an increased coaching team in to support it.
It’s an exciting time to be involved in Munster Cricket for everyone in the province!”
