Following Sunday’s Senior T20 Blast final match between Cork County and Cork Harlequins at the Mardyke, a member has reported feeling ill and has been tested for COVID-19.

In line with Cricket Ireland’s Safe Return to Play protocols, Munster Cricket Union has contacted players, coaches and spectators who were at the game, and expect results from the test in the next few days.

All activity and programmes in the MCU have been suspended until the test result is returned early next week.

While our thoughts and best wishes go out to the player who reported ill, we would like to acknowledge the swift action of the player and his club in following the protocols and working hard to notify any contacts who were at the ground on Sunday.

This is additionally a reminder to all cricket clubs in Munster about contact tracing requirements during the current pandemic, and the importance of the protocols in helping to reduce the spread of this coronavirus.
