Head Coach (Munster Heat) & Talent Pathway Manager
Location: Munster Region (Predominantly Cork)
Contract Type: Fixed Term (12 Months initially – extension subject to funding)

Remuneration: €40 000 package plus travel expenses and mobile phone.
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer and working along all MCU staff.

The Opportunity
Munster Cricket is seeking a driven and inspirational leader to join our performance team. This is a unique dual-role opportunity to shape the future of cricket in the province.


As the Head Coach of the Munster Heat, you will lead our representative pathway team, preparing the next generation of players for Inter-Provincial and potential International honors.

Simultaneously, as Talent Pathway Manager, you will oversee the entire youth
development structure, ensuring we identify, nurture, and develop talent across the Munster region.

Key Responsibilities

Head Coach – Munster Heat

Strategic Leadership: Assume full accountability for the Munster Heat squad,
including technical direction, tactical implementation, and final team selection.
High-Performance Culture: Cultivate an elite, inspiring learning environment
that accelerates player development. Execute high-intensity training programmes and oversee all match-day operations, both domestic and away.
Strategic Alignment: Partner with the Cricket Ireland High-Performance team to ensure tactical and technical synergy, facilitating a seamless transition for players through the national pathway.


Operational Planning: In coordination with the Operations Officer, design and
implement robust preparation schedules optimised for peak performance,
operating strictly within the budgetary frameworks established by the MCU Board.

Talent Pathway Manager

Strategy & Vision: Design and execute a comprehensive Talent Pathway
Strategy that aligns with Cricket Ireland’s High-Performance pathway. .
Talent Identification: Establish a sophisticated scouting network across schools, clubs, and community hubs to identify and recruit high-potential talent.


Holistic Player Development: Oversee Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
encompassing technical proficiency, Strength & Conditioning (S&C),
psychological resilience, and lifestyle management.


Mentorship & Coaching Network: Lead the “Coaching Network” as a mentor to
age-group coaches, facilitating CPD workshops to ensure a unified provincial
coaching philosophy.


Operational Oversight: Manage the Talent Pathway budget and Athlete
Management Systems (AMS) for data-driven tracking, ensuring rigorous
compliance with Safeguarding and GDPR protocols.


Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the lead liaison for parents/guardians and act
as a champion for Munster Cricket to broaden the talent pool.

Coach Education

Workforce Strategy: Drive the strategy to upskill the coaching workforce across
Munster, identifying and addressing gaps in coaching density and qualification
levels within clubs.


Course Delivery: Coordinate and facilitate Cricket Ireland accredited
qualifications (Coaching Kids through to Level 2) to ensure a sustainable pipeline
of certified coaches.


Professional Development: Manage the provincial “Coaching Network,”
organising regular CPD workshops to standardise coaching methodologies and
foster knowledge-sharing between club and school coaches.


Knowledge Transfer: Develop and distribute high-quality digital resources and
technical blueprints to support volunteer coaches at the grassroots level.

Club & Community Engagement

Club Liaison: Function as the primary bridge between Munster Cricket’s
performance structures and club youth sections, fostering collaborative
partnerships with Youth Development Officers and Club Coaches.


Technical Support: Conduct site visits to provide technical feedback to club
coaches and evaluate talent within the local club environment.

Transparent Communication: Maintain rigorous feedback loops regarding
player selection; provide club coaches with clear, constructive developmental
roadmaps for their representative-level players.


Who We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria:

Qualifications: ECB/Cricket Ireland Level 3 Advanced Coach (or equivalent), or
currently working toward completion.


Performance Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience
coaching within a high-performance or representative environment.


Leadership: Proven track record in team leadership with exceptional
organisational and interpersonal communication skills.


Logistics: Full clean driving license, access to a vehicle, and the flexibility to
work evenings and weekends as required.


Right to Work: Valid work visa to work in Ireland and the UK without restriction.


Desirable Attributes:

*Coaching experience at the International or Provincial (List A) level.
*Previous experience as a professional or international player.
*Tertiary qualification in Sports Science, Coaching, or Sports Management.
*Proven proficiency in budget management and the application of performance
analysis data.
