“I look back on a year that was challenging but very enjoyable. A huge quantity of cricket was played across the province and beyond, encompassing a huge range of abilities, backgrounds and genders. There has never been so many people playing in my memory and that is something to be celebrated. We have more teams looking to join and that is amazing, however it does highlight the shortage of facilities that we have in the region. This means that it is a balancing act between growing the game in Munster whilst making sure we are mindful of our existing clubs and players to ensure they still have access to a great product within our leagues. To that end we need to nurture our youth providing a clear pathway and help our Premier Division to thrive to fulfil our aim of producing home grown local Reds players. It is common knowledge that Cricket Ireland is expecting more funds from the ICC this year and in the future. We are very lucky to have Joe Moynihan fighting our corner for us . He has nurtured great relationships with the decision makers and the other Unions and we will be working tirelessly to get our fair share to grow the Union and help our clubs.”
