The 2026 Munster Cricket season hits full stride this weekend with 19 matches scheduled across the province. Week 5 features high-stakes Premier Division clashes on Sunday and critical promotion battles in Division 1 on Saturday.

Here are your previews for the upcoming weekend of action:

Saturday, 16 May

MCU Division 1 (45 Overs)

  • Clare CC 2nd XI vs. County Kerry CC 2nd XI
    • Venue: Ballycasey Clare Oval, Shannon | 11:00am
    • The Story: A clash of two sides looking for consistency. Kerry’s 2nd XI struggled in Week 3, collapsing against Limerick, but Luqman Kabir’s form (71 last week) remains a bright spot. Clare will look to use home advantage at the “Oval” to climb the table.
  • Cork County CC 2nd XI vs. Nenagh CC 1st XI
    • Venue: The Mardyke, Cork | 11:00am
    • The Story: A massive test for Nenagh’s 1st XI as they travel to the Mardyke. Nenagh are coming off a dominant win where Sreenivas Maniappan took a stunning 6-wicket haul. County’s 2nd XI, defending a “Munster Treble” from last season, will rely on Ishaan Singh Seehra to anchor the innings.
  • Limerick Blasters CC 1st XI vs. Cork Harlequins CC 2nd XI
    • Venue: Croker’s Oval, Ballyneety | 11:00am
    • The Story: The Blasters look to defend their home turf against a Quins 2nd XI that specializes in nail-biting finishes. After Umer Khan’s heroics last week, Quins will be confident, but the Blasters’ seam attack is notoriously difficult to handle at Croker’s Oval.

MCU Division 3 (40 Overs)

  • County Kerry CC 3rd XI vs. Clare CC 4th XI (Oyster Oval, 11:00am)
  • Waterford & District CC 1st XI vs. Lismore CC 1st XI (Carriganore, 11:00am)
  • United Cricket Clonmel 1st XI vs. Limerick Blasters CC 3rd XI (Lisronagh, 11:00am)
    • Preview: The “East vs. West” battle in Carriganore is the pick of the bunch here. Lismore’s 1st XI have historically been strong in 40-over cricket, but Waterford & District’s local knowledge of the Carriganore artificial deck makes them slight favorites.

MCU Division 5 & Youth

  • Waterford Vikings 2nd XI vs. Cork County CC 4th XI (Gracedieu West, 11:00am)
  • Midleton CC 4th XI vs. County Kerry CC 5th XI (Townparks, 11:00am)
  • Cork Harlequins U15 vs. Limerick CC U15 (Farmers Cross, 12:00pm)
    • Preview: The U15 Superleague match is a glimpse into the future. Harlequins’ youth system is one of the strongest in the province historically, but Limerick’s youth setup has shown massive improvement and match-winning consistency over the last few seasons.

Sunday, 17 May

MCU Premier Division (50 Overs)

  • Cork Harlequins CC 1st XI vs. Cork County CC 1st XI
    • Venue: Farmers Cross, Cork | 11:00am
    • The Story: The Cork Derby. Always the most anticipated fixture in the calendar. Quins had a tight win over Clare recently, while County looks to re-establish dominance after mixed early results. Expect a high-scoring affair if the weather holds.
  • County Galway CC 1st XI vs. County Kerry CC 1st XI
    • Venue: Lydican, Galway | 12:00pm
    • The Story: A long trip for the Kingdom. Kerry’s 1st XI showed grit beating Limerick in Week 3 thanks to Mohsin Taj’s bowling. Galway at Lydican is a tough prospect for any traveling side, making this a battle of endurance and spin.
  • Midleton CC 1st XI vs. Limerick CC 1st XI
    • Venue: Townparks, Midleton | 11:00am
    • The Story: Midleton are flying high at Townparks. Limerick’s 1st XI will be desperate to “right the wrongs” of their opening-day collapse and will look to Nishant Kumar to lead from the front.

MCU Division 2 & 4 (40 Overs)

  • Waterford Vikings 1st XI vs. Nenagh CC 2nd XI (Gracedieu West, 11:00am)
    • The Story: The Vikings are looking to make Gracedieu a fortress. Nenagh’s 2nd XI are coming off a narrow 12-run win and will bring plenty of momentum to Waterford.
  • Clare CC 3rd XI vs. UCC CC 1st XI (Ballycasey, 11:00am)
  • Limerick CC 3rd XI vs. Cork Harlequins CC 3rd XI (Adare, 11:00am)
  • Lismore CC 2nd XI vs. Limerick Blasters CC 4th XI (Castlelands, 11:00am)

Ground Watch: Keep an eye on the Mardyke and Townparks—the tracks there have been playing true and fast, favoring top-order batters who can survive the first 10 overs.
