Cork Harlequins 3rd XI vs Nenagh 2nd XI
Farmers Cross, Cork – 13 September 2025

Cork Harlequins 3rd XI claimed a three-wicket win over Nenagh 2nd XI in a closely contested Division 2A fixture at Farmers Cross.


First Innings

After winning the toss, Nenagh chose to bat and built their innings around a commanding knock from Tony Kurian. Coming in early, Kurian produced a fluent 112 from 107 deliveries, striking 17 fours and a six. He was well supported at the top by Sreehari Vinobaji (20) and Sri Teja (18), though both fell to B Ahsan, who proved to be Harlequins’ most effective bowler.

Wickets fell in clusters after Kurian’s dismissal in the 36th over, and Nenagh were eventually restricted to 195 all out in 35.4 overs. The total was boosted significantly by 41 extras, including 36 wides. For Harlequins, B Ahsan (3–25) led the attack, with P Searra (2–33) providing useful support.


Second Innings

In reply, Cork Harlequins chased steadily, anchored by an impressive innings from Sachin Yewale, who struck 80 from 101 balls with eight fours and a six. He shared a key stand with Md Nazmul Hasan Sajib, who contributed a quickfire 46 from 35 deliveries, helping the side recover from 38 for 2 to a strong position.

Although Nenagh picked up regular wickets in the latter stages, with Sri Teja (2–50) and Mobin Babu (2–22) among the wickets, Harlequins remained on track. I Ahsan (11 not out) and Archis Yewale (1 not out) guided their side over the line in the 35th over, finishing at 196 for 7.


Result

Cork Harlequins 3rd XI won by 3 wickets.


Hero of the Match

While Tony Kurian’s century was the standout performance for Nenagh, the decisive contribution came from Sachin Yewale, whose 80 anchored Harlequins’ chase and ensured they secured the points.

MCU Premier Division – Week 21

Cork Harlequins 1st XI vs Cork County 1st XI
The Mardyke, Cork – 13 September 2025

Cork County 1st XI edged past Cork Harlequins 1st XI by one wicket in a tense Premier Division encounter at the Mardyke to claim the League title for 2025.


First Innings

Having won the toss, Harlequins opted to bat first and reached 174 all out in 44.4 overs. Shivam Kislay provided a steady start with 42 from 68 balls, while R Joyce contributed 43 from 61 deliveries in the middle order. Seanan Jones also added 22 before falling late on.

Cork County’s bowlers maintained discipline throughout, with Siddharth Joshi producing the standout performance, claiming 5 for 26 in 9.4 overs. Thorne Prophet (3–33) offered strong support, while Mark Andrianatos and Prashant Singh picked up a wicket each. Harlequins’ innings concluded with a cluster of late wickets as they were bowled out just short of their full allocation.


Second Innings

Cork County’s chase began shakily, losing early wickets to fall to 13 for 2. However, Brian Upman played a decisive counterattacking innings, striking 70 from just 33 deliveries, including seven fours and five sixes. His partnership with Thorne Prophet (39 from 38) shifted momentum firmly towards County.

From 148 for 8, Harlequins threatened a comeback, with Seanan Jones (3–53) and C Laubscher (2–11) causing problems. But County’s lower order held their nerve. Prashant Singh (18* from 45) guided his side home with last-gasp support from Mark Donnelly, as the winning runs were struck in the 39th over at 175 for 9.


Result

Cork County 1st XI won by 1 wicket.


Hero of the Match

While County’s’ Siddharth Joshi delivered a fine five-wicket haul, and Harlequins batters Shivam Kislay and Ryan Joyce both hit excellent 40s,  the defining innings came from Brian Upman, whose explosive 70 turned the game and provided the platform for County’s narrow win.

MCU One Day 40 Overs – Week 21

Nenagh 3rd XI vs Waterford Vikings 1st XI
Gracedieu West, Waterford – 13 September 2025

Waterford Vikings 1st XI secured a two-wicket victory over Nenagh 3rd XI in a competitive 40-over contest at Gracedieu West.


First Innings

Batting first after being sent in, Nenagh 3rd XI posted 174 for 8 from their 40 overs. Praveen Pyda anchored the innings with a patient 48 not out from 81 deliveries, holding the middle order together. He was supported by contributions from Mohesh P M (25), Amit Gupta (17), and Shibin Sebastian (24), though wickets at regular intervals prevented Nenagh from building sustained momentum.

For the Vikings, D Toms was the most effective bowler, returning 3 for 28 from his eight overs. Amal John, Anil Davis, and J Kuriakose chipped in with a wicket apiece, while Francis kept the scoring in check with a tight 8-over spell conceding just 15 runs.


Second Innings

In reply, Waterford Vikings reached their target with two wickets to spare, finishing on 175 for 8 in 29.2 overs. J Kuriakose played the decisive innings, remaining unbeaten on 64 from 89 deliveries, anchoring the chase as wickets fell around him. He received key support from F Francis (33 off 24) and M Babu (23 off 17), who added vital runs at pace.

Nenagh fought back through Kishore Sukumaran, who picked up 3 for 32 in his 6.2 overs, while Praveen Pyda (2 for 41) and Shibin Sebastian (1 for 40) also struck. However, Kuriakose’s composure ensured the Vikings crossed the line in the 30th over.


Result

Waterford Vikings 1st XI won by 2 wickets.


Hero of the Match

The standout performance came from J Kuriakose, whose unbeaten 64 was the backbone of the successful run chase.

MCU One Day 40 Overs – Week 21

Midleton 4th XI vs Cork County 4th XI
Townparks, Midleton – 13 September 2025

Cork County 4th XI defeated Midleton 4th XI by four wickets under the DLS method in a competitive contest at Townparks.


First Innings

Midleton batted first after County won the toss and were asked to set a total. Despite losing Adrian Stack in the opening over, contributions from the middle order ensured a competitive score of 223 for 7 from 40 overs.

Sugadev Suman anchored the innings with 60 from 74 balls, well supported by Md Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury (31) and Dean Wilson (22). Earlier, Ram Mokashi (20) and Jaspal Singh (23) helped rebuild after early setbacks. Extras also proved costly for County, with 50 runs added, including 39 wides.

With the ball, Senan O’Connell led the way for County, taking 3 for 42, while Vinay Patil and Mohammed Huzaif Hussain Siddiqui picked up a wicket each.


Second Innings

Chasing a revised target of 212 in 35 overs under DLS, Cork County held their nerve to secure victory with four balls to spare. The innings was anchored by Mohammad Abas Faizi, who struck 65 from 61 balls, including three fours and four sixes. He received vital support from Adam Kamel, whose composed 58 not out from 46 deliveries guided the chase to completion.

Earlier in the innings, Vinay Patil (16) and Fahad Mannan (13) provided starts, though Midleton’s bowlers made regular breakthroughs. Dean Wilson impressed with 2 for 20 from seven overs, while Oscar Wilson, Jaspal Singh, Md Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury, and Sugadev Suman claimed a wicket each.

County sealed the win at 212 for 6 in 33.2 overs.


Result

Cork County 4th XI won by 4 wickets (DLS method).


Hero of the Match

The decisive contribution came from Adam Kamel, whose unbeaten 58 under pressure saw Cork County home in the closing overs.

MCU Division 3B – Week 21

Nenagh 4th XI vs Cork Harlequins 5th XI
Knockshigowna Cricket Grounds, Nenagh – 13 September 2025

Nenagh 4th XI claimed a 75-run victory over Cork Harlequins 5th XI in their Division 3B clash at Knockshigowna.


First Innings

Batting first after winning the toss, Nenagh reached 175 for 9 from their 40 overs. Aneesh Oomman top-scored with 42, while Jijo Kurian contributed 39 in the middle order. Extras also played a significant role, with 49 runs added to the total, including 32 wides and 12 no-balls.

Harlequins’ bowling was led by P Bhokre (2–22) and D Divakaran (2–25), with Zeeshan Ullah, Saravanan Kannan, and H Ahsan each picking up a wicket.


Second Innings

In reply, Harlequins were dismissed for 100 in 25 overs. Zeeshan Ullah offered resistance with 26, while A Gumber (11) and N Ezhilalan (7) chipped in lower down the order. However, they struggled to build partnerships against a disciplined Nenagh attack.

Binu Joseph was the standout performer with the ball, taking 4 for 23 in his six overs. He was well supported by Ebin Baby, who claimed 3 for 12 from eight overs, while P Natarajan and Jijo Kurian picked up a wicket apiece.


Result

Nenagh 4th XI won by 75 runs.

The decisive performance came from Binu Joseph, whose four wickets broke the backbone of the Harlequins’ batting and ensured Nenagh’s comfortable win.

MCU Division 2A – Week 21

Limerick Blasters 2nd XI vs Limerick 3rd XI
The Manor Fields, Adare – 13 September 2025

Limerick Blasters 2nd XI edged out Limerick 3rd XI by 3 runs in a tightly contested Division 2A encounter at The Manor Fields, Adare.


First Innings

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Blasters posted 178 for 7 from their 40 overs. Feby K Keepanasseril Roby anchored the innings with 32, while middle-order contributions came from Prestige Jaison (20) and Fivin Thomas (30). In the closing stages, captain Paulson George added an unbeaten 28, supported by Thomas Raju with 16 not out, guiding the side to a competitive total.

With the ball, Bhargavkumar Ghanshyambhai Patel was the pick of the Limerick 3rd XI attack, finishing with 3 for 31. Waqar Ahmed, Abubakar Azizuallah, Deepak Nagaraju, and Darshan Gopal each claimed a wicket.


Second Innings

Chasing 179, Limerick 3rd XI fell just short, dismissed for 175 in 38.5 overs. Abubakar Azizuallah anchored the innings with a patient 38 from 90 balls, supported by Ayan Ullah (30) and Deepak Nagaraju (21). However, regular wickets prevented the visitors from building a decisive partnership, leaving them three runs adrift at the close.

For the Blasters, Thomas Raju was instrumental with the ball, taking 4 for 41 in his 8 overs. He was supported by Fivin Thomas (2 for 28), while Sebin Scaria and A Ajesh picked up one wicket apiece.


Result

Limerick Blasters 2nd XI won by 3 runs.

The decisive performance came from Thomas Raju, whose four wickets halted the 3rd XI’s chase and secured the narrow win for his side.

MCU Division 1 – Week 21

Nenagh 1st XI vs Midleton 1st XI
Knockshigowna Cricket Grounds, Nenagh – 14 September 2025

Nenagh 1st XI recorded a narrow 7-run victory over Midleton 1st XI in a low-scoring Division 1 contest at Knockshigowna.


First Innings

Batting first after being put in by Midleton, Nenagh were bowled out for 156 in 33.1 overs. Sreehari Vinobaji played the key innings at the top of the order, making 53 from 75 balls with seven boundaries. He found support from Cinulal Varickatharappel (29) and Naveen George (19), but frequent wickets prevented Nenagh from building sustained partnerships.

For Midleton, AS Wattoo was the standout bowler, returning figures of 5 for 18 from 7.1 overs. Sreenadh Muriyattu Vipinachandran (2 for 36) and Muhammad Shabir (2 for 20) also made important contributions, while Robin Sebastian claimed the early wicket of captain Vimal John Mathai.


Second Innings

In response, Midleton appeared well-placed when Zuhair Shah struck a brisk 44 from 37 balls at the top of the order. Naman Gandhi (22) and Muhammad Shabir (14) added to the chase, but Nenagh’s bowlers applied pressure in the middle overs.

The decisive spell came from Subin Stephan, who took 4 for 18 in his nine overs, dismissing four of the top six. He was well supported by Sreenivas Pockathara Maniappan (2 for 26) and Mobin Babu (2 for 0 in a single over). With Midleton needing only 8 runs and two wickets in hand, the tail collapsed quickly, leaving them all out for 149 in 39.1 overs.


Result

Nenagh 1st XI won by 7 runs.


Hero of the Match

The defining performance came from Subin Stephan, whose four wickets in a tight spell turned the game decisively in Nenagh’s favour and secured the narrow victory.
