In a Division 1 MCU One-Day 45-Overs match held at Townparks, Midleton, Midleton CC 1st XI defeated Clare CC 1st XI by 33 runs. Midleton won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a commanding total of 263 for 9 in their allotted 45 overs.

Midleton’s innings was anchored by a magnificent century from Muhammad Shabir, who scored 105 not out from 71 balls, including 7 fours and 7 sixes. He received support from the top order, with Zuhair Shah contributing 28, and R Muhammad and AS Wattoo both making 21. Robin Sebastian added a quick 23 from 15 deliveries towards the end of the innings. For Clare, Arslan Talib was the most effective bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 61 runs. Hrushikesh Pardeshi and Gurpreet Singh each took two wickets.

Chasing a target of 264, Clare began their innings with early setbacks, losing two wickets for just 12 runs. They were steadied by a solid partnership between Vignesh and A Udin. Limerick’s innings was built around YASH SRIVASTAVA, who top-scored with a commanding 72 runs. However, his teammates struggled to form significant partnerships. The Clare bowling attack was spearheaded by Zari Waraich and Chandrasekaran Palanisamy, who each claimed three wickets, for 29 and 30 runs respectively. Vipul Mishra also contributed with two wickets.

Chasing 167 for victory, Clare’s innings started shakily, losing three early wickets for just 4 runs. The chase was stabilized by Kokab Rehman and G Singh, who put on a crucial partnership. Kokab Rehman scored 54, while G Singh added 35. The winning runs were scored by Raj More, who played a vital unbeaten knock of 39 from 30 balls. Limerick’s bowling effort was led by Yousaf Ramay, who took 3 wickets for 25 runs. Darshan Gopal also took two wickets for 22 runs.

Clare reached their target in 32.4 overs, finishing on 172 for 5. The hero of the match was Kokab Rehman for his half-century under pressure, which laid the foundation for Clare’s successful run chase.

The Munster Premier Shield final, held at the Oyster Oval in Tralee, was a highly anticipated clash between Cork Harlequins CC and Kerry CC. Unfortunately, adverse weather conditions, including rain and wind, led to the match being abandoned after only two overs had been bowled.

With no play possible, the winner was decided by a bowl-off. Cork Harlequins CC emerged victorious, winning the bowl-off 2-0. The crucial strikes were delivered by Seanan Jones and Kieran O’Reilly, who both successfully hit the stumps to secure the silverware for the Cork side.

Given the unique circumstances of the match being decided by a bowl-off, the heroes of the match were Seanan Jones and Kieran O’Reilly for their decisive performances under pressure.

County Galway Defeat Limerick in Close Contest

In a Premier Division fixture at The Manor Fields in Adare, County Galway CC 1st XI secured a 23-run victory over Limerick CC 1st XI. County Galway won the toss and elected to bat, posting a total of 183 all out in 49.5 overs.

The County Galway innings was anchored by a determined half-century from M Sidiqi, who scored 73 runs. He was supported by S Nasim, who contributed 32 runs. The Limerick bowlers maintained pressure throughout, with Ajay Hari leading the attack by taking 4 wickets for 35 runs, and Parth Borghare claiming two wickets.

In their chase of 184, Limerick found themselves in difficulty early on, but Prasad Hegde played a heroic innings, scoring an unbeaten 78 runs. Despite his efforts, the wickets continued to fall at the other end. In a Women’s T15 Superleague fixture at The Mardyke in Cork, Cork County CC Womens 1st XI defeated County Galway CC Womens 1st XI by 25 runs. Cork County won the toss and elected to bat, setting a challenging target of 107 runs by scoring 106/3 in their 12 overs.

In response, County Galway CC made a determined effort but were unable to reach the target, finishing their innings at 81/2 after 11.5 overs. The Galway innings was led by E Maxfield with a score of 31 runs and Siddhi Kadam who contributed 20 runs. The Cork County bowling attack was effective in restricting the scoring, with Suzanne Kamel and Leah Mackenzie each taking one wicket.

Ultimately, Cork County’s strong batting performance in the first innings provided the foundation for their victory, making it difficult for County Galway to keep up with the required run rate. The hero of the match was Dhanuja Dhananjayan for her undefeated 40 off 31 balls. Well played Dhanuja!

Cork Harlequins won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 154 in 37.3 overs. The innings was highlighted by Md Nazmul hasan Sajib, who scored a quick-fire 58 runs from 33 balls. The Cork County bowling attack was disciplined, with Mark Donnelly leading the effort with an excellent four-wicket haul. RAJAMOULI SENTHIL VANITHA also impressed, taking three wickets, and Arpit Ahuja claimed two wickets.

In their chase, Cork County reached 118 for 4 after 30 overs before the match was called off due to time constraints.. The victory was awarded to Cork County by the DLS method. Girish Khot anchored the innings with a patient, unbeaten 28. He was supported by Ashwani Tomar (23 runs), Robert Duggan (20 runs), and Gaurav Singh (20 runs). For Cork Harlequins, Md Nazmul hasan Sajib, Seneth Sumanasinghe, P Searra, and Namish Kumar each took a wicket.

The heroes  of the match were Nazmul Hasan Sajib and Mark Donnelly. Despite being on the losing side on this occasion, Nazmul’s electric 59 off just 33 balls set the game alight. And the young Cork County spinner Mark Donnelly took 4 wickets (including the rampant Nazmul) to put the result beyond Harlequins reach.

In a Division 2 fixture at Knockshigowna Cricket Grounds, Nenagh CC 2nd XI secured a 95-run victory over Limerick Blasters CC 2nd XI. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Nenagh posted a formidable total of 277/7 in their 40 overs.

Clonmel’s innings was built primarily around the resilient knock of Sharan Narke, who carried his bat for an unbeaten 76 runs. However, the rest of the batting order struggled against a dominant Midleton bowling attack. Avinash Nagarajan delivered a remarkable spell, claiming an outstanding seven wickets for just 35 runs. His performance dismantled the Clonmel middle and lower order, severely limiting their scoring potential.

In their chase, Midleton reached the target of 166 with six wickets in hand, finishing on 169/4 in 35.2 overs. A Rafiq was the anchor of the innings, guiding his team to victory with a composed, unbeaten 76. For Clonmel, Ahmad Qamar, Sharan Narke, Philip Samson Francis, and Adhvaith Sarath Divakaran each secured a wicket.

The hero of the match was undoubtedly Avinash Nagarajan, whose exceptional seven-wicket haul was the defining performance and the primary reason for Midleton’s comprehensive victory.

Limerick’s bowling attack was led by Jeevankrishna Jeevankrishna, who took an impressive three wickets for just 14 runs. He was supported by CJ Shinde, who claimed two wickets, while Parth Borghare, Waqar Ahmed, Ayan Ullah, and Abubakar Azizuallah each took one. For Cork County, the top scorers were Fahad Mannan, Pratheek Chappanda, and Mohammad Abas Faizi, each reaching double figures.

The chase proved to be a challenging one for Limerick, as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
