Galway, Lydican (MC): County Galway CC 1st XI secured a comprehensive 175-run victory over Midleton CC 1st XI in their MCU Sports Hub Senior Cup 50-over match on Saturday, July 6th. Galway posted a large total of 306 for 8 and then bowled out Midleton for 131.
County Galway’s Innings: Nasim and Mehmood Lead the Charge
County Galway CC 1st XI, after winning the toss and electing to bat, amassed a formidable total of 306 for 8 in their 50 overs. Their innings got off to a frenetic start, losing 4-16 within 6 overs, including S Burra (5), S Mishra (0), S Singh (0), and M Sidiqi (0).
However, S Nasim then played a powerful innings, scoring 96 runs off 106 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes, to rebuild the innings. He formed a crucial partnership with N Bharadwaj (22). The scoring rate then accelerated dramatically with K Mehmood, who smashed a quickfire 65 runs off just 33 balls, featuring 5 fours and 5 sixes. Danish Ali also provided a powerful late surge, remaining not out on 46 runs off 26 balls, with 2 fours and 3 sixes. J Juneja (18)* also contributed at the end. The only substantial resistance came from Muhammad Shabir, who played a valiant innings of 67 runs off 63 balls, including 3 fours and 6 sixes. However, he lacked support from the other end as wickets continued to tumble. Sriram Yarram (0), Atif Jameel (0), Murad Rasheed (0), and Robin Sebastian (0) all fell cheaply.

Cork, The Farm Curraheen Road: County Kerry CC 1st XI secured a comprehensive 8-wicket victory over UCC CC 1st XI in their MCU Sports Hub Senior Cup 50-over match on Saturday, July 6th. Kerry bowled out UCC for 71 and then comfortably chased the target in just 10.4 overs.
UCC’s Innings: A Batting Collapse
UCC CC 1st XI, after winning the toss and electing to bat, suffered a significant batting collapse and were bowled out for 71 runs in 25.5 overs. Their innings never gained momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Captain Muhammad Rizwan (8) and Rameshraj Selvaraju (0) fell early. Adnan Abbas (15) provided some brief resistance, but the middle order struggled.
Kaleem Ahmad remained not out on 12 runs off 56 balls, but he lacked support from the other end. S Belwal (10) and Albert Kokkandathil Lorance (10) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.
County Kerry’s bowlers delivered a dominant performance. US Sherzad was outstanding, claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs. Alam Morshed was equally impressive with 3 wickets for 17 runs. Awais Saghir also picked up a wicket.
County Kerry’s Chase: Quickfire Pursuit Seals the Win
Chasing a low target of 72, County Kerry CC 1st XI achieved it comfortably, reaching 77 for 2 in just 10.4 overs. Openers Tyson Warnke and Mohsin Taj provided a rapid start. Warnke remained not out on 26 runs off 29 balls, including 4 fours and a six. Taj contributed a quickfire 18 runs off 19 balls, hitting 4 fours.
After the dismissals of Mohsin Taj and Numan Ahmad (0) in consecutive balls, Awais Saghir joined Tyson Warnke and finished the chase quickly, scoring an aggressive 31 runs off just 15 balls, including 6 fours and a six.
UCC’s bowlers had little to defend. Adnan Abbas picked up 2 wickets, but the low target meant they could not exert enough pressure on the Kerry batsmen.

Ballyneety, Croker’s Oval: Cork Harlequins CC 1st XI secured a comprehensive 8-wicket victory over Limerick Blasters CC 1st XI in their MCU Sports Hub Senior Cup 50-over match on Saturday, July 6th. Harlequins bowled out Blasters for 119 and then comfortably chased the target, reaching 122 for 2.
Limerick Blasters’ Innings: Poulose and Mathew Provide Resistance
Limerick Blasters CC 1st XI, after being put in to bat by Cork Harlequins, struggled to build a significant total and were bowled out for 119 in 36.3 overs. Their innings began poorly, with Anunath Gopinathan Valsala (5), Binil Joy (0), and George Raju (16) falling early.
Rahul Poulose anchored the middle order with 30 runs off 68 balls. Regis Rex provided some quick scoring with 20 runs off 16 balls, including 2 sixes. Jeffin Mathew also contributed a valuable 21 runs off 35 balls before retiring out with a nasty knee injury. However, the lower order struggled to add significant runs.
Cork Harlequins’ bowlers delivered a dominant performance. Sidharth Pushp was the standout, claiming an excellent 4 wickets for just 21 runs. AS Dangi picked up 3 wickets, and Seanan Jones secured 2 wickets. Kieran O’Reilly and Kanishk Kumar bowled economically.

Adare, The Manor Fields Adare: Cork County CC 1st XI secured a 52-run victory over Limerick CC 1st XI in their MCU Sports Hub Senior Cup 50-over match on Saturday, July 6th. Cork County posted 210 for 8 and then successfully defended their total, bowling out Limerick for 158.
Cork County’s Innings: Andrianatos and Sah Lead the Way
Cork County CC 1st XI, after being put in to bat by Limerick, posted a competitive total of 210 for 8 in their 50 overs. After losing Donald Marakassery (0) early, Ritesh Sah and Mark Andrianatos built a crucial partnership. Sah scored a patient 53 runs off 77 balls, including 3 fours and a six.
Mark Andrianatos was the cornerstone of the innings, top-scoring with an impressive 88 runs off 117 balls, including 5 fours. He anchored the innings, allowing other batsmen to contribute around him. Waterford, Castlelands Cricket Ground, Lismore: Lismore CC 1st XI secured a comprehensive 99-run victory over United Cricket Clonmel 1st XI in their MCU Division 2B 40-over match on Saturday, July 6th. Lismore posted a strong 257 for 8 and then bowled out Clonmel for 158.
Lismore’s Innings: Talbot and Pillai Lead the Charge
Lismore CC 1st XI, after being put in to bat by Clonmel, posted a competitive total of 257 for 8 in their 40 overs. After losing early wickets, including Sarathikumar Nagulsamy (6), Ragesh Vishnubhavan Nirmal (10), and Manikandan N (0), Michael Talbot anchored the innings with an excellent 66 runs off 63 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes.
The innings was then propelled by a quality half-century from B Pillai, who scored 68 runs off 77 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. County Galway CC Women’s 1st XI, after being put in to bat by Cork County, posted a par total of 58 for 5 in their 15 overs. The innings saw contributions from E Maxfield (6) and Sasindi Guruge (2) early on. T Browne retired out after scoring 10 runs. Siddhi Kadam remained not out on 7. Cork, The Mardyke: Limerick CC U13 XI secured a 30-run victory over Cork County CC U13B in their MCU U13 League 30-over match on Sunday, June 29th. Limerick posted a strong 199 for 9 and then successfully defended their total, restricting Cork County to 169 for 6.
Limerick’s Innings: Ramay’s Half-Century and Extras Boost the Total
Limerick CC U13 XI, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a formidable total of 199 for 9 in their 30 overs. The innings was highlighted by an excellent half-century from Yousaf Ramay, who remained not out on 71 runs off 38 balls, including 14 fours. He retired not out after providing a strong foundation.
Early contributions came from Faizan Chaudhry (21). After Ramay’s retirement, Leon George played a crucial innings of 30 runs off 47 balls, guiding the lower order. Limerick’s total was significantly boosted by 60 runs in extras, including 47 wides and 8 no-balls, which accounted for a substantial portion of their score.

Limerick Blasters posted 209 for 9, a total Waterford Vikings chased down with 2 wickets and 1.5 overs to spare, reaching 214 for 8.
Limerick Blasters’ Innings: Rajan’s Unbeaten Eighty-Seven and Extras
