Cork County Clinches Victory Over Nenagh
Cork County CC 3rd XI secured a comfortable 25-run victory over Nenagh CC 2nd XI in their MCU Division 2A clash at The Mardyke.
Batting first, Cork County put up a respectable total of 180/8, with Ishaan Singh Seehra* opening the batting and top-scoring with 42. Arpit Ahuja contributed 26, and Rahul Sethi added a quickfire 39 before being run out. The top three added over 100 runs, with Nenagh’s Sreenivas Pockathara Maniappan being the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3-21 off 8 overs, at 2,63 RPO
In reply, Nenagh’s chase was never really on track. 2 wickets in the first over to Singh Seehra rocked the visitors, plus it was a maiden to boot. Jomy Joseph fought valiantly with a 59-run knock, and Cinulal Varickatharappel added 29, but the Nenagh batsmen couldn’t keep up with the required run rate as wickets fell regularly.
Ishaan Singh Seehra was the standout performer of the match, contributing heavily with the bat, but also snaring 5 crucial wickets in a brilliant all-round display for the Cork side. His bowling was instrumental in Cork County’s victory.
Clare Close Out Midleton in Thrilling MCU Division 2B Encounter
Clare CC 2nd XI secured an emphatic five-wicket victory over Midleton CC 3rd XI in their MCU Division 2B clash at Ballycasey Clare Oval.
Batting first, Midleton put up a respectable total of 163/9, with Rehan Qammar top-scoring with 31 runs. The feeling was the score was not probably going to be enough in a 40 over match, unless there was a collapse from the home side. Clare’s bowling attack shared the spoils, with Usama Amjad, Gurpreet Singh and V Mukundan, who all grabbed 3 wickets apiece.
In reply, Clare’s chase was relatively comfortable. Despite losing a couple of early wickets, the Clare batsmen did what they had to in order to chip away at the total. Udin‘s unbeaten 25 from just 7 balls effectively ended the match as a contest in the 27th over- with three towering sixes. as Clare reached their target with five wickets in hand.
United Cricket Clonmel Dominate Limerick CC
United Cricket Clonmel 2nd XI secured a resounding 181-run victory over Limerick CC 4th XI in their MCU Division 3A encounter at Adare Manor.
Batting first, Clonmel posted a formidable total of 249/9. Muhammad Arbaz Amjad Kushar and B Alfaran were the standout performers with the bat, contributing 62 and 55 runs respectively. Limerick’s bowling attack struggled to contain the Clonmel batsmen. A Qamar just missed out on a half century, being dismissed for an excellent innings of 49.
In reply, Limerick’s chase was never got going, with only one batsman reaching double figures. Their innings was riddled with wickets, and they were eventually bowled out for just 68 runs in the 23rd over. Youth player Adhvaith Sarath Divakaran was the pick of the Clonmel bowling attack, claiming the great figures of 3-17 off just 5 overs.
The Clonmel batters laid the foundation for the team’s dominant victory. Limerick’s bowling attack struggled to contain the Clonmel batsmen, and their batting order collapsed under pressure.
