Limerick CC 2nd XI Triumph Over County Kerry CC 2nd XI by 13 Runs
Limerick County Cricket Club’s 2nd XI secured a thrilling victory over County Kerry CC’s 2nd XI by a margin of 13 runs in their MCU Division 1 encounter played on June 22nd at Oyster Oval, Tralee.
Limerick’s Commanding Batting Performance
Limerick elected to bat first and amassed a competitive total of 209 runs on the board. Openers Karthik Karur Maniaraas (1) and Yogesh Borghare (7) fell cheaply, but solid scores by Sourabh Teke (34) and Nishant Kumar (44) steadied the innings. Captain Sarfraz Ramay (63) then took centre stage with a well-composed half-century, propelling Limerick towards a strong total. Wickets fell at regular intervals in the latter stages, Anvesh Bogavelly (23) contributing valuable runs down the order.
County Kerry’s bowling attack toiled hard, with Sherzad (4-48) and Miyaz Khail (3-26) claiming the most wickets.
Kerry’s Fightback Falls Short
In reply, Kerry’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost wickets early on. A valiant knock from Sohaib Asghar Chohan (40) and valuable contributions from Noman Ahmad (41) and Ajith Thanathan (42) threatened to take Kerry over the line, but the Limerick bowling unit kept in the hunt with regular wickets at the other end. The Limericks bowlers held their nerve to restrict Kerry to 196 runs and claim the win.
Ramoji Alla (3-50), Sathya Prabu Sivakumar (2-33) and young Ayan Ullah (2-7) were the spearheads who did most of the damage and picked up key wickets at crucial moments.
This victory keeps Limerick firmly in the hunt for promotion in MCU Division 1. They will be looking to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
