Phase 2 of the Roadmap in Ireland for easing COVID-19 restrictions is due to start on Monday next 8 June. This Phase envisages the possibility of small group team sports training (but not matches) to resume.
Cricket Ireland, along with many other National Governing Bodies of sport, has been working in conjunction with Sport Ireland over recent weeks to develop protocols for returning to training and competition.
2 weeks ago, Cricket Ireland submitted draft protocols for ‘Return to Training’ to Sport Ireland for review and endorsement, by the Department of Transport Return to Sport Expert Group, to allow cricket to resume training and protocols for a Return to Play shall follow thereafter. At this point Cricket Ireland are still awaiting a reponse from them.
To provide our clubs with information of what may be involved to meet the requirements of a Return to Training for cricket clubs, cricket coaches and cricket players will be hosted by Munster Cricket on Friday, 5th June, between 6 & 7 p.m. and all our clubs are invited and strongly encouraged to attend.
A presentation will be given outlining the main points in the draft protocols submitted and the requirements therein, and there will be time available for discussion and questions on the subject.
Each club is invited to nominate 2 representatives, and to register for the webinar via the link below:
– registrations from your clubs should be by 2:00pm on Friday, so that links can be sent to all registered club nominees.
