Following Sunday’s Senior T20 Blast match between Cork County and Cork Harlequins at the Mardyke, a player has reported feeling ill and has been tested for COVID-19.
In line with Cricket Ireland’s Safe Return to Play protocols, Munster Cricket Union has contacted players, coaches and spectators who were at the game, and expect results from the test in the next few days.
All activity and programmes at Cork County Cricket Club and Cork Harlequins Cricket Club have been suspended until the test result is returned.
While our thoughts and best wishes go out to the player who reported ill, we would like to acknowledge the swift action of the player and his club in following the protocols and working hard to notify any contacts who were at the ground on Sunday.
This is additionally a reminder to all cricket clubs in Munster about contact tracing requirements during the current pandemic, and the importance of the protocols in helping to reduce the spread of this coronavirus.
